Rainbow colours are in

Wearing a wide range of colours from top to toe is in. We explore the rainbow...

If life was pigmented in basic blacks and whites, how boring would it be? Extremely, we must agree. Colours truly reflect the spirit of lives, and shoe designer Bruce Dunn agrees, “Colours play a very important role these days as they define the person you are.”

For example, when you see someone wearing a really bright colour, you get a vibrant aura from him/her. A brightly coloured shoe catches the eye easily, and most of the shoes that I have painted have been pretty colourful.” Are girls the ones who experiment with colours, or is it the boys? “Surprisingly, boys seem to like colours more than the girls do. As I said, people want something that catches attention, and I find boys taking full advantage of that,”

Gone are the days when you matched your clips with your dress and shoes. It’s the era of mix and match. I always suggest everyone to go for vibrant red clips, a yellow dress and, maybe, a bright green pair of chappals. When your outfit can make you feel fresh and good, then why stick to the basic blues and blacks and whites?”

Fashion designers are also captivated with colours. Bright shades in footwear are the in thing. From lipstick red to burnt orange and from fresh navys to sunflower yellows, pick a colour and you’ll get some accessory in it. Match your heels with your clutch, and make sure your dress is a contrast, and you are ready to kill. My most colourful pick has been a pair of multicoloured suede platforms from a local designer in Bali. Bright and hip, they lift a regular outfit and make it fun.
Do you feel men have started experimenting a lot with colours? “It’s the age of the metro-sexual guy. So, colours like pink, yellow, green and purple have wriggled into the male wardrobe. Yellow is singing at the top of its voice this season, and neons have whitened. The brights are on fire, and the entire spectrum of reds from purple to salmon pink is doing the rounds. I would say, dive into these shades and leave the boring behind.” We couldn’t agree more!
